I have a medical condition / disability can I go horse riding?

As avid horse people, we at Cape Trib Horse Rides understand the healing properties of being around horses. Due to the open National Park and Beach format of our trail rides, we do not have an enclosed/controlled equine riding environment. We also fully respect the specialised coaches, training and equine equipment required to safely facilitate therapeutic and disabled riding. As a result, we reserve the right to limit the availability of horseback riding due to anything which may in our judgement pose a threat to the health and safety of either horse, rider, fellow riders or guides. This includes but is not limited to being able to independently, promptly and without assistance respond to, follow and execute on trail guide direction as well as mount and unmount independently and without assistance.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to discuss these with you.

Will my tour be cancelled if it’s raining ?

Rain in the rainforest! This is part of the experience! Cape Tribulation is one of the wettest places in Australia, so be sure to dress for wet weather. Please note, we do not offer refunds for wet weather if you choose to not participate.

In the event that management feels the weather conditions are dangerous for the horses or riders, we will unfortunately cancel the tour due to safety concerns. In this instance all participants will be given a refund.

Guests are not allowed to ride double on one horse. All children must be accompanied by an adult you will need to book a ride for yourself and your child.

Can I bring my pet or service dog?

To ensure the safety of our guests, staff, and horses, no dogs (including service dogs) are permitted on our horseback rides or anywhere on the property. This policy helps prevent any interaction between dogs and horses, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for everyone.

Can I go horseback riding if I am pregnant?

We do not recommend it and require all Pregnant ladies to have a medical certificate if they wish to ride.

My partner/friend wants to ride but I don’t. Can I still come along and watch?

Absolutely! The ride checks in at Cape Trib Camping from there you can access the beach, where you can watch the riders go past. You can also relax at the Sandbar Café while you wait. It’s a great spot to enjoy a coffee or bite to eat. We just ask you check in as a visitor at the horse rides office prior to accessing the beach. There is parking and toilets at the check in office.

Thanks so much to Jerry and the rest of the team at Cape tribulation Horse rides, it was a beautiful ride. Ash is a gorgeous horse and was very well behaved for me, he is a beautiful boy.
What an amazing experience this was, all staff were absolutely wonderful, the horse were beautiful and extremely behaved.
I would highly recommend 👌
Thank you, for an amazing experience
This is a beautiful horse riding experience. My daughter, cousin and I drove up from Cairns and it was well worth the drive. Would recommend this to anyone from beginners to experienced riders.
Don’t forget your sunscreen and bug spray.
We had the most amazing time.
Thanks for making our day great guys
An amazing experience!!!
Very friendly horses, and super friendly guides. It was an unforgettable experience in an amazing location. Fantastic activity for beginners! A wonderfully relaxing and pleasant journey through the rainforest to the beach. With very interesting facts and conversations along the way. I’ll remember it forever!!!
I loved this experience! Be aware that it is a walk on horseback (no trotting), but so wonderful to wander through the rainforest, beach and water on these beautiful, well trained ex racehorses. The highlight was the amazing, entertaining Gerry, one of the guides, who has extensive knowledge of bush tucker and medicinal uses of the rainforest vegetation, and local bird life. We even had a snack of green ants.
Highly recommended 😊
My daughter and I had a wonderful couple of hours with the Cape Trib team and their beautiful horses. Jackie made us very welcome at check in and provided helmets and safety briefing. There were eight riders this morning all with relatively low levels of experience. Once checked in at the office attached to Sand Bar we were driven to the stables less than five minutes away. Paired up with our horses and helped into the saddle by Jackie, Gerry or Ayesha and off we went! A gentle ride through the rain forest to the beach. Plenty of time for photos. Returning same route to stables. Lovely experience, felt very safe and confident. Very well organised, high standards of care for the horses. A great setup for anyone looking for a gentle ride in awesome surroundings.
A beautiful experience with brilliant horses and staff. The horses are so well cared for and their temperaments calm and carefree. Thank you so much Jackie and Gerry for your time and knowledge. Maybe next time we can go for a little canter ……..? A must do for anyone wanting a gentle meander along the beach and through the rainforest.
I mean, it literally was as amazing as it sounds! Horse riding through the forest, down to the beach and learning about the horses, the daintree and local food from our tour guide (who loved to yap as much as I do 😊). The horses are all so healthy and clearly treated well which is always so important. My horse was named Hunter and he was a cheeky spirited boy, I was so grateful to have had the pleasure of riding him
