Cape Tribulation Horse Riding

RAINFOREST RAMBLE TO THE BEACH

Cape Tribulation Horse Riding

Our scenic rides are a journey of discovery. Surrounded by ancient trees, you’ll walk past a rainforest creek and down to the beach.

Along the way you’ll ride through Cape Trib Camping grounds where if you’re lucky, you might spot a cassowary moving through the undergrowth. Moving alongside Myall Creek, you might see a crocodile sunning itself (from a safe distance of course) and then it’s on to the sand for breathtaking views of the Cape Tribulation headland.

The pace is intentionally slow and mindful, allowing you to truly appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds you here at Cape Tribulation, the only place on Earth where two UNESCO World Heritage sites meet: the Great Barrier Reef and ancient Daintree Rainforest.

Cape Tribulation Horse Riding

Cape Trib Horse Rides > The Rainforest Ride

The ride begins at our rainforest stables, at Cape Trib Camping Grounds. Here you will be paired with a horse before we commence our journey, following a lush rainforest trail towards Myall Beach. During the ride let the sounds of the forest wash over you and keep a keen eye out for local flora and fauna. In addition to being scenic the Cape Trib Horse Rides also provide the chance to connect and learn more about this special place, thanks to the narrative from our local guides.

Cape Tribulation Horse Riding

Myall Beach > Cape Tribulation

Emerging from the dappled light of the rainforest, we ride onto the sands of Myall Beach for panoramic views of the Cape Tribulation headland. We pause to take in the significance of the area and its untouched beauty, with plenty of time for photos. On the return journey, enjoy sweeping views of Mount Sorrow rising above the rainforest canopy. The tour is not about going fast, in fact it’s all completed at walking pace, providing an intentionally peaceful and grounding experience.

Very nice way to discover the rainforest and to ride a horse on the beach. The horses knew their job and it all felt very safe, even for my friend who had never ridden a horse before. I really wish they would offer a tour for experienced riders where you could trot and gallop, then I would come back.
This horse ride made one of my biggest childhood dreams come true, and I can’t even put into words how happy and emotional I was. ❤️

Before the ride, though, I was almost in tears for a completely different reason. My flight was delayed, then the car rental was delayed, and finally the ferry crossing caused even more delays. No matter how much I hurried, it seemed impossible that I would make it on time. I spoke to two members of the team by phone and even emailed from the ferry asking them to wait for me, although I completely understood that a whole group and saddled horses can’t realistically wait for one person.

I was incredibly lucky that the rest of the group was a lovely big family who were happy to wait for me, and I’m especially grateful to the two guides, who were so kind, understanding and helpful about the whole situation.

The ride itself was absolutely breathtaking. I learned so many fascinating things about the plants and wildlife of the Daintree Rainforest, and the scenery was simply unforgettable.

Thank you for making my childhood dream come true! I truly hope I can come back one day. Until then, I hope everyone else gets the chance to experience this too — this is definitely something you shouldn’t miss!❤️
