The adventure began back in 1984 with 6 horses and a dream...

Our goal has always been simple – to connect horses and people with the natural world around them.

Our story begins back in 1984, when the very first ride set out from the old Drysdale Arms – one of the original backpacker lodges in Cape Tribulation.

With just six horses, the adventure began. Over the decades we have grown to a herd of more than 23 horses and become the oldest running tour in Cape Tribulation. We’re also proud to remain the only beginner-friendly beach ride in Australia – a truly unique experience, just like our location.

Throughout the years, the business has changed hands, welcomed countless staff and guests, and shared thousands of unforgettable rides. But one thing we can all agree on: this is still the most scenic ride in the country. Our goal has always been simple – to connect horses and people with the natural world around them and what better place to do that than here, in the world’s oldest rainforest and on the land of the world’s oldest living culture.

The current owners are a helicopter pilot and a cowgirl from outback Queensland. You’ll often spot them in the background, keeping the horses and pastures in order. They’ve called the rainforest home for over a decade and love the off-grid lifestyle and the beauty of this special place and can’t wait to share our backyard — and our best friends, the horses — with you.

A wonderfully serene experience. I went on 27 April 2025 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Thanks Gerry and Haley.
I’ve always wanted to go horse riding on the beach and through the rainforest, and I’m so happy that I chose to do it here. The whole experience was amazing – even though it started raining pretty heavily right when we got on the horses!

The guides were really friendly and shared lots of interesting facts about the different plants in the rainforest, which made the ride even more special. They also took really nice photos of us riding along the beach, and we even got to ride a little bit through the water, which was such a cool moment.

At first, I was actually the only person who had booked for that day, so they suggested changing the date because it normally isn’t worth running the ride for just one person. But since it would have been my only chance to do it, they kindly said they would run it anyway. Organizing everything over the phone was super easy and they were incredibly helpful.

I also really appreciated how well they take care of their horses. I’m usually a bit concerned about tourist riding experiences because some places don’t seem to care much about the horses. Here it felt very different. The horses have a huge field where they can roam freely, without even needing fences, and they can go into the rainforest whenever they want. They have so much space and it was really nice to see that they are treated so well.

If you like horses – 10/10 recommend.
If you don’t like horses – also 10/10 recommend.
We had a great ride! The change between rainforest and beach was so great to get a feel for all of it. Jerry was super knowledgeable and had a lot of great information along the trail. He made the ride extra enjoyable. If we ever make it back to the area we will definitely book again!
Awesome horse riding experienced, even for movie riders like us!
Incredibly informative, friendly, and passionate guides! Gerry was particularly informative and knowledgeable, and a joy to ride with.
Horses were friendly and well behaved. Awesome, easy going experience with great guides.
Super nett!
Beautiful horses. Relaxing walk on beach.
Staff are super nice and helpful.
Had an amazing and casual ride thru the rainforest and beach walk. Very informative guide by Gerry of all the local biodiversity and Hally was super friendly too...highly recommended
You're not guaranteed to get to walk in the water (the guides need to be able to see there are no crocs or sting rays 🙃) but even the walk on the beach is lovely and they stop and take photos for each group on their horses which was lovely. Walking in the water was unreal though. Made it the coolest trail ride I've done so far 😍
