I have a medical condition / disability can I go horse riding?

As avid horse people, we at Cape Trib Horse Rides understand the healing properties of being around horses. Due to the open National Park and Beach format of our trail rides, we do not have an enclosed/controlled equine riding environment. We also fully respect the specialised coaches, training and equine equipment required to safely facilitate therapeutic and disabled riding. As a result, we reserve the right to limit the availability of horseback riding due to anything which may in our judgement pose a threat to the health and safety of either horse, rider, fellow riders or guides. This includes but is not limited to being able to independently, promptly and without assistance respond to, follow and execute on trail guide direction as well as mount and unmount independently and without assistance.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to discuss these with you.

Rain in the rainforest! This is part of the experience! Cape Tribulation is one of the wettest places in Australia, so be sure to dress for wet weather. Please note, we do not offer refunds for wet weather if you choose to not participate.

In the event that management feels the weather conditions are dangerous for the horses or riders, we will unfortunately cancel the tour due to safety concerns. In this instance all participants will be given a refund.

Guests are not allowed to ride double on one horse. All children must be accompanied by an adult you will need to book a ride for yourself and your child.

To ensure the safety of our guests, staff, and horses, no dogs (including service dogs) are permitted on our horseback rides or anywhere on the property. This policy helps prevent any interaction between dogs and horses, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for everyone.

We do not recommend it and require all Pregnant ladies to have a medical certificate if they wish to ride.

My partner/friend wants to ride but I don’t. Can I still come along and watch?

Absolutely! The ride checks in at Cape Trib Camping from there you can access the beach, where you can watch the riders go past. You can also relax at the Sandbar Café while you wait. It’s a great spot to enjoy a coffee or bite to eat. We just ask you check in as a visitor at the horse rides office prior to accessing the beach. There is parking and toilets at the check in office.

Magical experience with the lovely team from Cape Tribulation Horse Riding. Thank you so much Jerry, Hallie and Aeisha for making today so special and memorable. Gerry's knowledge of the area and local flora and fauna was beyond amazing. Fascinating - we learnt so much! Our horses Halo, Thorn, Blaze, Jerry and Zoomie were stunning. Memories we will cherish forever. Thank you

Riding through the Daintree rainforest and out onto the beach was pretty special. Beautiful horses, amazing scenery and a really relaxed ride.

From the moment we arrived, Hallie made us feel welcome, relaxed and completely at ease. We rode with Hallie and Gerry. Their warmth and care made the whole experience feel personal and special from the very beginning.

The ride through Cape Tribulation was an unforgettable journey through the ancient Daintree rainforest and out towards the coast. Sitting on horseback beneath the towering trees, surrounded by dense greenery and the sounds of the rainforest, felt like entering another world. The horses were calm and beautifully cared for, and the relaxed pace gave us time to take in the scenery.

Seeing the ancient forest, river and coastline meet from horseback was breathtaking. Riding along the beach with the waves nearby, the horses moving through the shallows and the rainforest rising behind us was a truly unique experience.

There was something wonderfully peaceful about the whole ride: the sound of hooves, the movement of the water, the tropical landscape and the feeling of being completely surrounded by nature. It was not just a horse ride, but a beautiful way to experience Cape Tribulation and the Daintree from a perspective impossible to appreciate in quite the same way from the road.

Beautiful horses, kind and knowledgeable guides, and spectacular scenery made this an experience we will remember for a very long time. ❤️🌴🌊

Thank you

Very nice way to discover the rainforest and to ride a horse on the beach. The horses knew their job and it all felt very safe, even for my friend who had never ridden a horse before. I really wish they would offer a tour for experienced riders where you could trot and gallop, then I would come back.
Response from the owner:Thank you Laura for your feedback, we are very proud to bring all costumers with different level of experience to the ride. So everyone has the chance to enjoy the daintree on horseback.
This horse ride made one of my biggest childhood dreams come true, and I can’t even put into words how happy and emotional I was. ❤️

Before the ride, though, I was almost in tears for a completely different reason. My flight was delayed, then the car rental was delayed, and finally the ferry crossing caused even more delays. No matter how much I hurried, it seemed impossible that I would make it on time. I spoke to two members of the team by phone and even emailed from the ferry asking them to wait for me, although I completely understood that a whole group and saddled horses can’t realistically wait for one person.

I was incredibly lucky that the rest of the group was a lovely big family who were happy to wait for me, and I’m especially grateful to the two guides, who were so kind, understanding and helpful about the whole situation.

The ride itself was absolutely breathtaking. I learned so many fascinating things about the plants and wildlife of the Daintree Rainforest, and the scenery was simply unforgettable.

Thank you for making my childhood dream come true! I truly hope I can come back one day. Until then, I hope everyone else gets the chance to experience this too — this is definitely something you shouldn’t miss!❤️

I went horseback riding with my parents and I thought the horses were really well cared for. I rode Bella, and at the end I gave Pipen some cuddles. They’re so cute! 😍

An incredible experience — horse riding at the meeting point of two UNESCO World Heritage sites. The Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef are simply a dream. The horses are beautiful, gentle, and it’s obvious they’re extremely well looked after.
